[Eridanus had not planned on getting kicked out of own home, especially without even the courtesy of packing a bag and leaving with some pride. Instead he had been webbed up like caught prey, and tossed off the balcony. He's lucky that this new body is sturdier, and becoming harder and harder by the day. If it weren't for that, he likely would have died from the fall alone. Rosefica was much faster than he had anticipated, though he wouldn't admit it. She snuck up on him and gave him nary a chance for a fair fight.
Anger continues to lick up his spine as he tugs sticky webbing from his clothes, the threads easy enough to tear through by strength alone, but he was made to flail his claws about just to fling them off. As he walks, his gaze scans the buildings along the street, until he ultimately comes upon the unfamiliar apartment complex that Lucius had messaged the address of. With just the shirt on his back and his laptop tucked under one arm, he climbs the stairwell two steps at a time, until he arrives at the appropriate floor. He's knocking at the front door before he can even form the proper words for a greeting when it swings open.
Shock at the sudden appearance of Lucius mixes with a look of shame, his ears pinning back, as he realizes just how much he probably looks like a kicked dog right now. There's embarrassment that colors his cheeks, as he knows just how the man before him will likely pry for detailsāand how his heart feels heavy at the thought of not seeing Rosefica again, for who knows how long. His verdant gaze softens, and his brows knit together with sadness.]
Hello, Lucius. [He starts quietly,] may I come in...?
Remember that bake sale we met at, a few weeks ago? We made some plans to get together and go hunting ingredients? I got a group of people who have some ideas on how to get it off the ground.
We're meeting up in New Bavan; a little nightclub downtown call The Tesseract. Hope to see you there.

[Action][Happy birthday to Eridanus it's 5D chess time]
[Eridanus had disappeared earlier in the evening, saying he was off to pick something up, though he hadn't said what or how long he would be. When he returns hours later, it's with a wooden box tucked under one arm and a glass jug filled with something clear under the other. He finds Lucius on the couch in their sitting area, his feet up on the coffee table with his computer in his lap.]
Who are you tormenting now with your siren song? [He asks as he leans over the back of the couch, peeking at the blue-faced screen of sprawling type.] Anyone important, or can you join me in the dining area?
[He doesn't wait for an answer to turn towards the attached dining room, where he sets the glass jug down along with the wooden box. Then Eridanus passes through the kitchen and retrieves two glasses, before calling out,] I was given some moonshine by a friend, I think you'll like it, it's far stronger than what you might get at a bar!
[Getting Lucius a present is never the difficult part, the man is exceedingly easy to please. It's hiding the present that makes it difficult, especially with how curious he is. But somehow, Eridanus did itāand on Christmas morning, before Lucius awoke, there would be a neatly wrapped gift on the end of the bed waiting for him.
Under the meticulously badāthat's how you know Eridanus did it himselfāmini Santa Claus wrapping and exceedingly curly bow, is a hard oak case. Inside the case, nestled against crushed crimson velvet, is a sword. Not just any sword, but a falchion. It's stylized in a way to match that of the Sungazer saberāa gold gleaming bronze blade, mauve dyed eel-skin wrapping about the hilt, and similar aquiline iconography decorating the cross guard. It's also a considerably higher quality than his current falchion, no doubt forged much sturdier, even if Lucius doesn't need it.
If Lucius is to look for him, Eridanus will be found in the kitchenāwhere the scent of freshly brewed coffee is wafting from.]
[Eridanus has died before, but this time it was different. It was not the easy, instantaneous resurrection of the Cube of the Square, like falling unconscious only to wake from dreamless sleep. In the time before the fog he had been floating. Neither here nor there, in a space suspended above the peninsula. It was as if he was present but not, all at once, in that cosmic sea of souls and stars. It was cold. It was lonely. It was a hell unlike any otherāand then, he awoke in the cemetery.
The trek home was long and arduous, with a grogginess weighing down his limbs in a way that makes his skin crawl. When he arrives at his home in Djavulenstad, he turns the knob on the door only to find it unlocked. Eridanus, for once, does not feel prepared to face Lucius. He hasn't had time to process his feelings of the events days prior, but he pushes past them for now just as he pushes that door open. He peers about the empty entrance hall, finding the stillness of it to feel rather restless.]
Lucius, I'm home! [He calls out, despite the knot twisting in his belly.]
[When his bleary eyes blink open to find an empty bed, Eridanus simply assumes that Lucius has done what he always doesāventuring out in his boredom. He has come to know and expect as much with their differing hours of activity, that there will be times that the man will do as he pleases and that includes leaving their home without a word. In those hours where Eridanus is confined to the indoors, and when Lucius returns, he will typically busy himself with balancing the Nest's ledgers that he brings home.
Except for today, it seems. Rather, when he wakes and goes about his routine as usual, he finds a note left in neat handwriting atop those musty books. Immediately, he recognizes it as Lucius', and without much flourish it simply provides a Bavanite address... and a message to rendezvous. Lucky, then, that it was just before dawn and he could actually make that trip.
It takes him some timeāgetting dressed, taking the bus from Djavulenstadābut he makes it just before sunrise. What he expects is perhaps Lucius, with some surprise he's put together, as he does so love to be spontaneous. What he doesn't expect is seeing a handful of fellow monsters waiting around with him.
Eridanus' gaze is scrutinizing, but like a hound heeling to its master, he finds his consort's side and bends to murmur just low enough for only him to hear.]
[Perhaps the first realization that something is incredibly wrong is that, instead of the slippery sensation of silken sheets around him, Eridanus instead feels the soft give of fur. In Vathea, the season hardly calls for peltsābut then, he hears it. The intake of air beneath his head, the subtle rise and fall of a chest. Is he in bed with some animal, he thinks to himself? Or worse... had he gotten too drunk at the tavern the night before, only to land in bed with a wargman?
Rather than stealthily checking to see which nightmare is correct, Eridanus suddenly bolts upright. His eyes widen at the sight before himāneither beast nor wargman, but certainly not any other type of creature he's seen beforeāand claps a hand over his mouth so as not to scream.
He needs to leave. Immediately.
And so he tries to. First gently grabbing the arm that's snaked around him to pry it off, only to see thatāoh, Light, he's naked tooābefore trying to slide away from the slumbering thing beside him as quietly as possible.]
There once was a boy who was a Halloween fanatic. He loved dressing up for Halloween, he loved pulling pranks and watching horror movies, and above everything else... he loved candy. One fateful year, while he went trick-or-treating, he visited a house. This house was creepy as hell! It was big, it was old, it smelled like a grandmother and it was owned by a happy, old rich couple. The boy came here thinking that he would be handed out big chocolate bars, because it was a rich person's house but when he knocked on their door... he was handed a bag of that shitty candy that nobody likes! Tootsie rolls, shitty flavoured dum-dums, those weird... peanut things... needless to say, the boy was heartbroken. He was so heartbroken that he died, right there on their porch and now, every Halloween he goes out and finds people to curse. He wants everyone to suffer the same way he did!
Everybody is already suffering from his curse!! Send this to ten people to break the curse, or to avoid getting cursed, or you'll be stuck looking freakier than usual for the rest of your life!!!!!!!!!!
[Action][Ding-dong, it's me, your new roommate!]

Pros and Cons
Pro: - somehow we matched outfits without meaning too that was cute
- good talk! processing it.
- nothing dumb happened
Con: - I couldn't be as over the top as I wanted.
There are probably more pros and cons but I don't want to over think it.
But like. Have you ever been disappointed that someone wouldn't get the kind of message you're trying to send?
